[ENG] Ireland Working Holiday: Why Ireland?
📌 Introduction – Why I Chose Ireland for My Working Holiday
Unlike Australia or Canada, where many Koreans go for working holidays, I chose Ireland, a country with a much smaller quota each year. At 31 years old, some might say it’s a late start, but I don’t think so. I had already experienced working life in Korea and felt I had grown stronger in my own way.
But the biggest reason for my decision was that I no longer wanted to live under the pressure of social expectations, endless networking, and the gaze of others. I wanted to step away from all that and focus on discovering who I really am—what I want to achieve and what truly matters to me. More than anything, I wanted a fresh start in a place where no one knew me.
Before leaving, I didn’t prepare much. I only had a rough idea of what Ireland was like and didn’t do extensive research. I wanted to experience everything firsthand—to learn by facing challenges directly. Plus, one of my life philosophies has always been "Things will work out somehow." So I just took the leap.
Now, after almost two months in Ireland, I sometimes think... "Maybe I should have been a bit more prepared." Haha. 😅 But then again, this is exactly the kind of experience I wanted!
In this blog, I’ll be writing as if we’re just chatting like close friends—casual, fun, and sometimes even sharing my honest struggles! I hope you’ll enjoy following my journey and cheering me on along the way. 😊
Right now, I’ve settled in Dublin, Ireland. 🇮🇪
